WINERY INFORMATION Located on Basham Road in Stanley Flat North Clare Mt Surmon planted its first vines in October 1995 in the scenic northern Clare Valley region on a 400m hillside The wine label was launched in February 2001 along with the opening of their cellar door The winemaking team use single estate grown fruits to produce flavoursome fruit driven and premium quality wines produced with minimal intervention nbsp TASTING NOTES Mt Surmon Portage is a blend of the Nebbiolo and Shiraz grape varieties displaying deep purple-red hues throughout This enticing fortified red offers scintillating aromas from its lifted bouquet while the vibrant and spicy palate is filled with rich flavours of raisins fruit buns cinnamon and cloves It ends in a well-rounded sweet and satisfying finish This Italian-style Portage tastes excellent with nuts as well as soft and hard cheeses It also tastes marvellous when poured over ice creams nbsp
