Winery Overview Fox Creek is a renowned McLaren Vale producer, known for expressing the regions diversity through both classic and alternative varietals. The Limited Release range is crafted from standout parcels, highlighting small-batch wines of exceptional character. This Grenache 2021 reflects te beauty of old-vine fruit and the elegance of McLaren Vales finest sites. Region amp Vintage Conditions The 2019 vintage was marked by predominantly dry conditions and a significant hail event, leading to reduced yields but excellent concentration in the fruit. While challenging, the low disease pressure and careful vineyard management allowed for balanced canopies that shielded fruit during the hottest summer days. Grenache was harvested between 15th and 19th March, with fruit showcasing purity, freshness, and vibrant acidity. Winemaking Sourced mainly from 90 year-old bush vines on the loamy soils of McMurtrie Road and the sandy sites of Blewitt Springs, the fruit delivered fragrant aromatics and fine tannins. After fermentation, the wine was matured in seasoned 500L French puncheons 28 years old, ensuring oak influence remained subtle, preserving the wines vibrancy and delicate fruit profile. Tasting Notes Appearance Carmine red with crimson hues Aroma Perfumed notes of rose petal and violets with strawberry, pomegranate, and a touch of thyme and sage Palate Juicy red fruits of strawberry, sour cherry, and raspberry with a bright core of acidity and fine, grippy tannins Finish Elegant and persistent, with freshness carrying through to the finish Cellaring Crafted for immediate enjoyment but will reward 57 years of careful cellaring. Food Pairing A versatile red that pairs beautifully with Mediterranean fare, chargrilled vegetables, duck, or dishes seasoned with fresh herbs. Its elegance also makes it an excellent match for lamb skewers or soft cheeses like Brie. Accolades 94 points Wine Orbit
