Not to boast, but when you win a trophy for your cabernet at the Yarra Valley Wine Show, you’re doing pretty damn well. Ya see, cabernet is the historic red grape of the region (pinot noir came along much later) and there are still some amazing examples being produced. Ask any winemker in the Yarra about where their heart lies, and they’ll tell you it’s with cab sav. This one has seven years of age on it, making it perfectly ready to go. It’s medium-bodied with hints of allspice and cedar sitting alongside black currant, blackberry and some ridiculously silky tannins. We’d say that trophy is well-deserved.
