WINERY INFORMATION Shaw Smith was established with the goal to make exciting and refined wines exclusively from Adelaide Hills that rank amongst the best wines of Australia Founded by cousins Martin Shaw and Michael Hill Smith in 1989 this winery specialises in producing excellent quality Sauvinon Blanc cool climate Shiraz M3 Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines TASTING NOTES The vintage was sourced from the block of grapes planted behind Shaw Smith winery in Balhannah and bunch pressed Matured on lees in French oak barrels this wine shows a dark red colour with slight purple tinges Bold aromas of rhubarb red cherry cedar and cinnamon flow from the nose coupled with light hints of fennel seed and vanilla pod The medium-bodied palate is full of succulent red fruit as well as lively acidity with stalky complexity fine-grained tannins and earthy notes lingering in the background With a cellaring potential up till the year 2020 this wine is an ideal match for foods like roast pigeon breast and config leg as well as boudin noir and quince
