WINERY INFORMATION Initially planted as a small vineyard of Shiraz grapes in 1880 Poonawatta Estate was acquired by the Holt family in the year 1966 when Sue Holt and her husband John purchased the property and restored it to its original glory The estate is recognised as one of the oldest produing vineyards in the world with the 1880 Shiraz vines being considered one of Australia rsquo s earliest vineyard plantings The property is currently owned by Andrew and Michelle Holt nbsp TASTING NOTES The grapes used to craft The Cuttings Shiraz were sourced from the estate rsquo s Cuttings vineyard which is a dry grown vineyard planted with cuttings taken from the original 1880 Shiraz vines This delightful deep purple-red hued Shiraz exudes attractive aromas from its fragrant bouquet while the luscious palate packs spicy flavours of black and red fruits supported by a natural acid balance Fine grained tannins a cool climate finesse and a great depth and structure culminate in a long clean and satisfying finish Suggested food pairings for this vibrant red wine include dark chocolates barbequed meat or roasted vegetables with bold sauces nbsp
