More than 123 years after Alexander Campbell Johnston planted his first small vine cutting, the Johnston family still produce estate grown wines and operate one of Australia's oldest wineries - Pirramimma.On the 21st of March, we picked this excellent parcel of Shiraz at optimum flavour and hnd picked a tiny portion of ripe Viognier. Both varieties were co-fermented on skins for 10 days to extract colour, fragrance and varietal character. Maturation was completed in 90% older French and American oak to retain fruit freshness and 10% new French oak for a touch a savoury spice.
