This is without a doubt one of the most exciting producers we have ever landed for the Black Market. That’s no exaggeration at all. They are an icon of the New Zealand wine scene and this is their take on the classic Right Bank Bordeaux blend. The colour is a deep garnet and the nose is lifte with hints of violets, boisenberry and cinnamon. On the palate there is richness but also structure. Heaps of secondary characteristics have come to the forefront, most notably nutmeg and sandalwood, yet the fruit remains readily apparent. After eight years, the tannins have become fine and dusty, providing a lingering and enjoyable finish. What a score for our Mofo’s!
