$26.00

The ‘Entrada’ range of wines are made in a modern, approachable, drink now style. Inspired by Winemaker Alan Varney’s time in the small Portuguese town of Entradas, in Alentejo. A modern take on varieties well suited to McLaren Vale this is a fresh, approachable red blend styled n the very drinkable red wines of Portugal and Spain. Grenache provides vibrant juicy red fruits, Mourvedre structure and powdery tannin, and the Touriga an alluring floral aromatic lift. Alan credits the success of Varney Wines to his relationships with local growers, and his subsequent ability to source some of the best fruit in the region. All the grapes – grenache, mourvedre, shiraz, touriga, nebbiolo, cabernet sauvignon, fiano, semillon and chardonnay – come from vineyards in McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills, plus one small parcel from Langhorne Creek. “The culmination of our launch last year, and now this award, makes the hard work and sacrifice worthwhile,” says Alan • 98 Points James Halliday.
