This Pauillac 1st Growth is often considered the ‘wine of the vintage’ usually for its more flamboyant overt showing but there is little denyingthat Chateau Mouton-Rothschild comes with an incredible reputation and a rightful place amongst the great wines of Bordeaux since elevation to the upper tier in 1973. While the impeccable estate is divided to 80% Cabernet Sauvignon 10% Cabernet Franc 8% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot this wine sees 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Merlot from the phenomenal harvest of 2010. The wine is as gloriously perfumed and infinitely complex as expected with the luxurious mouth-feel of great Mouton wines. Cellaring will be repaid from now to 60-or-so year. A must do for collectors of fine wine.
