Joachim Zerk, an early German pioneer farmer, settled in the Barossa Valley in 1846. He purchased for 200 pounds what he considered a perfect site for a vineyard. 160 years later, the Zerk family still grow grapes in old vineyards of which Section 3146 is a part. This Cabernet has an abundance of rie blackcurrant fruit on the palate that pairs seamlessly with layers of tobacco and mint finishing with a balanced tannin structure.
