We live for wine discoveries like this. Twenty years ago, Petaluma went hunting across the Adelaide Hills for the perfect location to grow premium Shiraz. They settled on an ideal NE facing slope at 380m altitude and planted Shiraz, Viognier and Sangiovese, making a succession of great wines from th site. Then, in 2012 Darren & Nat Arney came across the Shining Rock vineyard and saw exactly what Petaluma did - this is a wonderful place. Initially, the Arney's bought it purely because it was a magic spot, but after time amongst the vines they couldn't help take the vineyard to the next level. Now made by Con Moshos at Tapanappa, these are magnificent wines, and headlined by the northern Rhone-inspired 2016 Shining Rock Adelaide Hills Shiraz.
