WINARY INFORMATION nbsp Vineyard The Blue House Vineyard is situated in Waitaki Valley in Estate Development on the bank of oatlake river Rob and Pam crosby have been provided by Pinot Gris and riesling since 2008 amp Pinot Noir since 2010 Given that we work with experinced grower in this blok the viticulture program it pretty much set nbsp and all we have to do is keep a watching brief on plant health crop load and ripening rate One of the advantage of this site is that there are four foremost fan in close proximity so when we received a power of snow in early november 2011 the windmills managed to prevent the young shoots from freezing unlike another of our vineyard Winemaking The grapes were de-steamed without crushing into open frementers and allowed to cold soak for a week Once a spontaneous fermentation had begun we started pigeage plunged 2-3 times a dayfor another week untill all the sugar had been depletedand the colour tannin amp flavour had been extracted After ferment we then allowed the wine to soak on skins for another week untill the colour had stabilised and the tannin had softened TASTING NOTES Aromatically the wine speak of its origin craneberry red cherry and strawberry fruit notes and the lovely cracked pepper spice note this vineyard renowned for The palate is soft and generous offering more red and touch of dark fruit velvety tannins and soft balancing acidity It is unshamdely early driking style made to drink young with bistro style food Think grilled aubergines amp zucchini drizzled with olive oil garlic amp lemon sitting alongside atasty lamb backstrap chargrilled on the webber in all its smokey goodness
