Châteauneuf is famously grown in galets, the (very large) pebbles in all the promo photos of the region. That’s not true of all of the wines, though, and this one sets itself apat flavour-wise thanks to the sandy soils of its vineyard. Still richly flavoured, it’s also curiously elegant, with enough depth for the discovery of hidden complexities. Tannins are ripe, but not aggressive, and frame everything beautifully.
