WINERY INFORMATION Born into a family of hoteliers reputed grape grower Murray McHenry planted his first vines at Burnside Vineyard in 1984 which initially sold grapes to Cape Mentelle Wines In 1994 he joined hands with Brian Sierakowski and established Calgardup Brook Vineyard He continued plnting more vineyards by acquiring a 75ha farm on Rocky Road in 1998 In 2004 he collaborated with accomplished winemaker and third generation vigneron David Hohnen to establish McHenry Hohnen Wines nbsp TASTING NOTES McHenry Hohnen Amigos Red is a harmonious fusion of Shiraz and Grenache grapes with Mataro grapes This resulted in the creation of dark red coloured wine Lively scents red strap liquorice and ripe red confection intermix with earthy notes of terracotta black pepper and dark chocolate to flaunt an intensely perfumed nose The supple palate contains delicious flavours of Jaffa confection red fruits ground sweet spices and liquorice These characters are balanced by blood orange acidity and fine tannins ending the wine in a soft and lingering finale It tastes fantastic with turkey pork and mushroom nbsp
