WINEYARD Juniper Estate is a producer of premium wines in Wilyabrup the heart of the remote environmentally pristine Margaret River winegrowing area lying in the south west corner of Australia about 270km south of the state capital Perth When the vineyard was planted in 1973 under its originalguise of Wright s it was one of only six Margaret River wine producers along with Vasse Felix Cape Mentelle Cullen Moss Wood and Woodlands by contrast today the region boasts in excess of 200 vineyards WINEMAKING The inaugural release of this wine is made from Cabernet Sauvignon and its soul mates Merlot Malbec Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot It could take a few vintages to settle on a definitive style but it will revolve around the structure and length of Cabernet Sauvignon while the other cultivars bring in a range of flavours and textures making a fleshier earlier drinking option while waiting for the Estate Cabernet Sauvignon to soften TASTING NOTES Aroma The aroma is both complex and savoury whilst generous in ripe fruit characters Cherry blueberry red currant and salted plum notes are supported by hints of chorizo soy black olive and mocha Flavour This elegantly proportioned blend of Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Malbec Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot has created an intensely flavourful wine with great depth and structure Palate On the palate dark cherry black currant and red liquorice flavours integrate with hints of subtle toasty oak cinnamon nutmeg and vanilla A plush and juicy mouth-feel flows into a very fine tannin profile delivering superb length and flavour
