Big Geoff Merrill sure knows how to make hearty red wine, and this boldly flavoured, firm Shiraz is on the money. A 'best barrels' blend, showcasing what McLaren Vale Shiraz is all about, there is dark plum fruit aplenty and then soft silky tannins. It's a forgotten dish now, but the ol' mixed gril would be perfect here.
