Winery Overview Gapsted Estate is based in north eastern Victoria and works closely with growers in the King Valley, a region known for cool climate wines with natural freshness. The Buffalo range is made to be approachable and easy to enjoy, focusing on clean flavours and balance rather than compleity. This Pinot Gris is a straightforward expression of the variety, shaped by the cooler conditions of the King Valley. Region and Vintage Conditions The King Valleys elevation and alpine influence help Pinot Gris ripen slowly, keeping acidity fresh while allowing flavours to develop fully. The 2023 vintage delivered steady conditions that resulted in clean, healthy fruit with good flavour intensity. The season allowed the grapes to be picked at the right time, preserving freshness while still giving the wine enough weight and texture. Winemaking Techniques The fruit was harvested at optimal ripeness to capture varietal character and balance. After gentle pressing, the juice was clarified and fermented in stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures. This approach helps retain fresh aromatics and keeps the wine clean and focused. The wine was handled carefully throughout fermentation to build texture naturally, without the use of oak. Tasting Notes Appearance Pale straw with a light silver hue.Aroma Fresh pear and apple with hints of citrus and light floral notes.Palate Crisp and balanced, showing flavours of ripe pear, apple, and lemon.
