Winery BackgroundGant amp Co is a boutique Margaret River winery founded by Claudia and Matt Gant. Drawing on Claudias local vineyard heritage and Matts international winemaking experience, the estate crafts characterful wines that express vineyard origins with thoughtful minimal intervention. Vineyrds and Vintage ConditionsThis Jeune red blend was grown from dry-farmed, single-cane vines in Margaret River. The 2022 season offered balanced ripening conditions, allowing the fruit to achieve ripeness while retaining vibrancy and freshness. A Loire-inspired approach, with one bunch per cane, emphasizes quality and intensity in the resulting wine. Winemaking ProcessThe blend consists of 46 Cabernet Sauvignon, 38 Merlot, and 16 Malbec sourced from designated vineyard blocks. After a gentle harvest, fermentation was followed by 10 months on lees in demi-muids and barriques, adding texture and complexity. Tasting NotesThe nose presents a bright, minty lift backed by blackcurrant pastilles and cedar. On the palate, generous cassis, plum, and blueberry compote meld with a lift of refreshing acidity, herbal bay leaf nuances, leafy vibrancy, and a hint of olive. Food PairingThis medium-bodied red is beguilingly food-friendly. It complements casual fare like grilled meats or roasted vegetables, as well as herbaceous or olive-forward dishes such as lamb with rosemary or bruschetta with olive tapenade.
