The winery, Fattoria Zerbina, is apparently named after a warm, southerly wind that blows through Marzeno where the vineyards are located, so now we have that out of the way we can tell you about this bonny little sangio. It's a very medium-bodied style that shows smells of sour cherries, dried herb and meaty savouriness on the nose, together with a touch of soft spice. The palate is lighter, very approachable and cherry-like, with fine drying tannins, licks of leather, and a decent earthy finish. It's made for food, like most Italian wines, and would be great with mushroom risotto. Red - Other Reds - Sangiovese
