WINERY INFORMATION Recognized as a leading wine company of Barossa Valley Elderton Wines is a family owned winery headed by brothers Cameron and Alistair Ashmead The winery is a small family farm situated in Nuriootpa South Australia It was established in 1979 by Neil and Lorraine Ashmead with he aim to create world class wines using the unique grape varieties typical to the Barossa region TASTING NOTES Aged for a brief term of 15 months in French oak barriques Elderton Estate Family Vineyards Merlot 2015 is a deep red coloured wine containing 14 of alcohol The nose exhibits sharp aromas of plum and spice with subtle earthy notes while the palate is fresh and juicy with delicate flavours of plum spice cedar and black fruits This medium bodied red wine develops complex fruit characters with a cellaring period of 5 years Pair this 2016 vintage wine with beef lamb and veal to unlock its full flavour potential
