From the climatic point of view, the 2014 vintage was characterized by abundant rainfall during the entire year. Plant growth was uneven and inhomogeneous, as were the flowering and bud set, the last due to rains which favored the outbreak of fungal diseases. The weather of the growing season fored a notable commitment in the vineyard work to protect the vines from damaging attacks of vine diseases. The summer months were marked by significant precipitation and cool weather all the way up to the harvest. Picking commenced in mid-September with the early ripening varieties such as Merlot and Syrah, while the Sangiovese and Cabernet harvest began in late September and terminated during the first week of October.
