This syrah is from the town of Great Western, in the Grampians region of Western Victoria. This small town is famous for having some of the country’s oldest shiraz vines and producing bold and compelling reds that are a bit fuller than many Victorian wines. This wine, made by a small producer is medium bodied with an intriguing palate that starts with herbaceous notes and then moves to red plums, and then to blackberries and classic Grampians Dutch licorice. It’s really compelling with abundant fine tannins, and very broad appeal.
