Loveblock Sauvignon Blanc

$13.50 See retailers & vintages

It’s fair to say that a lot of producers in Marlborough are just making savvy b for the masses. Quantity over quality if you will. It’s also fair to say that Loveblock is NOT one of those producers. This is single vineyard, certified organic and the result of relentess attention to detail. Each vine is pruned a bit differently depending on its needs. The grapes are picked in separate parcels with an eye towards optimal ripeness, with each parcel undergoing its own fermentation with wild yeast. Even the vessels varied, with one concrete egg, two amphorae and a few seasoned French oak barrels. A quarter of the wine went through a full malolactic fermentation before final blending. This is as complex, textured and elegant as Marlborough sauv blanc gets. You’ll find the typical fruit spectrum, but there is a hint of basil and chalky minerality normally expected from the wines of Sancerre.
