If there is one challenge that we face in Australia it is the dearth of affordable Bordeaux. One exception to this is the 2011 Chateau Haut de Plaisance Haut Medoc Bordeaux, which demonstrates that good value Bordeaux is out there if you taste enough wines to find it. And we have tasted an awful lotof inferior Bordeaux to get there... The appeal of this traditional claret is twofold. Firstly, it has the precision tannins that you'd come to expect in the finest Bordeaux. Yet it also showcases lively cassis fruit in a welcome clean and modern form, with five years of bottle-age helping to soften and round the youthful edges - this presents as some of the best value Bordeaux on the market.
