WINERY INFORMATION Woodlands Wines was founded in 1973 by wine enthusiasts David and Heather Watson The estate rsquo s vineyard on Caves Road in Wilyabrup Valley was among the first five vineyards that were planted in the Margaret River wine region The founders aim to produce wines to echo the fie vineyards of Bordeaux They were honoured with the prestigious Jack Mann Memorial Medal in 2016 for their contribution to the Western Australian wine industry TASTING NOTES This dazzling Cabernet Franc Merlot is a blend of classic grape varieties - 52 Cabernet Franc 43 Merlot and 5 Malbec procured from breathtaking vineyards in Wilyabrup Valley After being aged for 10 months in one to three year old French oak casks the resulting wine shows a rich crimson colour The bright and perfumed bouquet exhibits juicy aromas of a variety of red berry fruits These fruity fragrances effortlessly shift to the playful and vibrant palate containing flavours of raspberry and briar patch from Cabernet Franc grapes and blackcurrant characters from Merlot grapes These elements are coupled with a hint of white spice from Malbec grapes and are balanced by bright acidity leading to a fine and captivating finish This red wine may be cellared for 8 years from vintage for the flavours to evolve
