This shiraz expression is unusual, a very rounded blend of cool and warm climate fruit, very complete but hard to pin down. It’s richer and more savoury than the 2014 Frankland shiraz (which we tried just before this on), more plum, bush tomato and sourdough, some pine needles and funky undergrowth in there too. Less spice. A density and softness that reminds me of Langhorne Creek shiraz, with a toasted fruit bread finish. It manages to be at once a richer wine than the ’14 but please those who are more pinot noir-inclined. Fascinating wine.
