The Gask Shiraz

$89.00

The Gask is sourced from a single plot of Shiraz nestled into the eastern slope of Mt. McKenzie that is painstakingly nurtured by the Knight family. Planted in 1960 this elevated site yields small, intense berries that possess great intensity of flavour without sacrificing balance & poise. These beries give the wine an ink-like hue whilst the nose serves up notes of smoke, graphite, crushed rocks and blackberry liqueur. It’s quite a heroic wine in style yet retains the cooler edge and tighter structure that the great wines made from this region are famed.'An immaculately made wine with a disciplined and light touch, making the alcohol irrelevant; it sinuously weaves its way through the black fruits of the medium to full-bodied palate, which make more impact than tannins or oak (or alcohol). Perfect length, line and balance will give the wine a very long future’ (2012 Vintage) - 97 Points.- James Halliday Wine Companion.
