Barbera is often overshadowed by Barolo, which comes from the same region. No longer, we hope. This is an attempt at ÃƒÆ’Ã‚Â¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚Â¬Ãƒâ€¹Ã…â€œseriousÃƒÆ’Ã‚Â¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚Â¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚Â¢ barberaÃƒÆ’Ã�Â¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚Â¬Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â¦ and a seriously good one, at that. What we find is barberaÃƒÆ’Ã‚Â¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚Â¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚Â¢s eminent drinkability married with elegant acidity, more refined flavours and increased ageability. ThereÃƒÆ’Ã‚Â¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚Â¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚Â¢s sour cherries, plums and a slight meatiness, followed by a hint of gravel and rose petal akin to its more famous cousin. The tannins are firm but flexible, and the acidity keeps everything lively.
