Barbera is often overshadowed by Barolo, which comes from the same region. No longer, we hope. This is an attempt at ‘serious’ barberaÃâ€Â¦ and a seriously good one, at that. What we find is barbera’s eminent drinkability married with elegant acidity, more refined flavours and increased ageability. There’s sour cherries, plums and a slight meatiness, followed by a hint of gravel and rose petal akin to its more famous cousin. The tannins are firm but flexible, and the acidity keeps everything lively.
