Te Mata is one of the cult wineries of New Zealand, and this is a great intro to the quality of the range. Made from Gamay, a cousin to Pinot Noir that is used to make Beaujolais; it's a poised, fruit-driven wine that shows an abundance of red raspberry fruit, potpourri, cherries and soft spices on he nose. The palate is medium-bodied and fruity, with a whisper of toasty oak in the background, lacy tannins, and a dry, mellow finish. Red - Other Reds - Gamay
