Apologies to Neil Armstrong, but this wine was a giant leap ahead of others in the Panel's masked tasting of Pinot Noir. A single vineyard offering from the Innocent Bystander team in the Yarra Valley, this is vibrant and juicy, very clean and polished. You will find some nice warm spice, a touch ofsap and some gamey characters. There is great acid and fruit on the long finish. Try with roasted venison and lingonberry sauce. ‘The fruit profile of the Lower Yarra Valley is distinctly different to that of the Upper Yarra, but winemaker Steve Flamsteed's touch is gentle in each case. Here the tannins are a little more evident, underpinning the savoury/spicy nuances to the fruits, oak less important. The strength of the wine is its length and balance.’ - 94 Points.James Halliday.
