Winery Background Schild Estate is a family-owned winery located in the southern Barossa Valley, renowned for producing premium wines that reflect the regions rich terroir. The Narrow Road Shiraz 2021 is sourced from the Narrow Road Vineyard, situated at 380 meters above sea level in Rowland Flat. Tis vineyard, adjacent to the original Schild homestead purchased in 1952, is known for its hillside location and unique microclimate, contributing to the wines distinctive character. Vineyards and Vintage Conditions The 2021 vintage in the Barossa Valley experienced warm, ripening conditions that allowed for the development of rich fruit concentration. The Narrow Road Vineyards alluvial clay-loam soils provided a balanced environment for the Shiraz grapes, contributing to the wines depth and complexity. Winemaking Fermentation occurred in small harvest lots, with careful extraction of colour and tannin to preserve the fruits integrity. The wine spent time in oak barrels to develop structure and spice notes, resulting in a bold yet balanced expression of Shiraz. Tasting Notes Appearance Deep, dark ruby with purple edges Aroma Intense aromas of dark berries, plum, and subtle chocolate, complemented by hints of spice and black pepper Palate Full-bodied with a plush mouthfeel, showcasing dark berry compote flavours and a fine tannin structure Finish Long, velvety, and well-balanced, with a lingering aftertaste Food Pairing This Shiraz pairs excellently with rich grilled or roasted meats such as beef, lamb, or game.
