Marrying genuine elegance and suppleness with powerful flavour, this charmingly long and balanced pinot bears an abundance of red fruits and dark cherry on the nose with attractive oak char. A generous amount of tannin throughout the palate, but the depth of red and blue fruits fills the mouth. Mke Symons' winemaking philosophy has long been centred on getting the right varieties on the right vineyard sites. The Merricks district on the Mornington Peninsula provides Mike the perfect foundation to work on this philosophy, with Stonier's grape varieties of choice: chardonnay and pinot noir. Mike's experience in France and Italy reinforced the importance of achieving terroir in his wines - a factor that hasn't escaped him during his 10 years at Stonier.
