Our Pocketwatch wines pay tribute to my great great grandfather James Oatley (1770-1839). One of Australia’s early convict settlers, James was a master watch and clockmaker who was soon pardoned by Governer Macquarie, appointed Keeper of the Sydney Town Hall Clock and commissioned t install the still functioning turret clock in the pediment of the Hyde Park Barracks. As part of his remuneration he received a number of land grants from Governor Brisbane, including a 300-acre lot that is now the southern Sydney suburb of Oatley
