Gerhard Pittnauer was named 2014 Austrian winemaker of the year. And no wonder. His winery is located on the eastern shore of the Neusiedlersee in Burgenland at the eastern edge of Austria bordering Hungary. Pittnauer specialises in St Laurent an alluring variety that is a descendant of Pinot Noi but with altogether darker flavours combining power with delicate affirming tannins. Fine unmistakable aromas of amarelle cherries and dark berries distinguish this lovely elegant wine.
