Move over gris, move over grigio, pinot blanc is here. Global wine guru Jancis Robinson calls the variety “gently rather than demandingly appealing†and I agree. It’s not bold or shouty, but rather makes approachable wines that work wonderfully with food never overpowering them. This wine is subtle on the nose, showing floral highlights and has a lovely texture on the palate, and a firm line of acid. There is a freshness that is more like sour cherries than citrus, then comes the golden delicious apples, honeysuckle and a long and chalky finish. It’s a lovely wine that any pinot gris drinker would appreciate.
