Penfolds RWT BV Shiraz

$145.00 See retailers & vintages

The initials RWT stand for 'Red Winemaking Trial', the name given to the project when developmental work began in 1995. Naturally, now no longer a 'trial', RWT Barossa Valley Shiraz presents a style true to the region. Matured only in French oak, its style is opulent and fleshy. Made from fruit primrily selected for its lush texture and aromatic qualities, RWT initially offers a lift of trademark tar/bitumen above scents of assorted carpaccio meats, steak tartare, green olive, capers and rosemary. On the palate this medium-bodied wine has a firm and binding structure. Mouth-watering acidity clutching opulent fruits renders an impressive pathway cleaved across front/middle/back palate assisted by chalky tannins and absorbed integrated oak. The result is a wine that helps to redefine Barossa shiraz at the highest quality level. 96 Points Tony Love. 96 Points Angus Hughson.
