WINERY INFORMATION Vineyard The grapes were grown on well drained stony soil in the Waipara Valley The rows of vines are orientated in a north south direction to ensure good sunlight exposure on each side of the plant and to assist even ripening of the berries Winemaking The fruit was purposel left on the vines until late in the season to obtain full ripeness good concentration and encourage the development of a small amount of noble botrytis that would highlight the spectrum of natural fruit flavours The juice obtained by pressing the fruit was fermented and then given a short period of ageing on its natural yeast deposit sur lie The noble botrytis and lees ageing have increased the mouth feel and complexity of this wine TASTING NOTES A star-bright lemon hue with a hint of pink reflects the ripeness of the fruit The wine is bursting with aromas and flavours of ripe pear quince guava cinnamon and ginger It expands on the palate to become mouth filling and unctuous but its richness is balanced by a refreshing and zesty core of minerality
