Written byPaddy Borthwick runs a winery and farm that’s all about family. His great-great grandfather was a pioneer in the British meat industry, one of the first to export frozen meat from Britain to the world. The family eventully immigrated to New Zealand, purchasing Te Whanga Station, a farm that has now evolved into one of New Zealand’s pre-eminent Angus cattle and sheep stations. In 1996, Paddy and his father, Robin started planning the Borthwick Vineyard & Winery on site – and it’s them we have to thank for this delicious pinot gris.
