2021 was a classic vintage for Clare riesling. So it’s probably a wise move to look to the best sub-regions and the best producers when trying to experience these wines. Enter O’Leary Walker and their Polish Hill riesling. Sourced from an organic vineyard, the wine immediately announces itself wth aromas of nectar, lime and florals. It’s quite slatey and bracing on the palate, carrying over more lime through to the finish. Give it a decade or two (we know you won’t though) and honeyed and nutty flavours will start to make their presence known. We won’t call 2021 lightning in a bottle since Clare usually nails its riesling, but some vintages just stand out a little more than others.
