Winery Background Mt Yengo Wines is a First Nationsowned and operated winery situated in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia. Founded by Gary Green and Ben Hansberry, the estate champions Indigenous culture while producing vibrant, organic wines with minimal intervention. A portion of each bottle ale supports the National Indigenous Culinary Institute.  Vineyards and Vintage Conditions Grapes are grown at elevation in the coolclimate Adelaide Hills, where the terroir comprises gentle slopes and fresh air that promote slow ripening. The 2023 vintage offered ideal weather for Pinot Gris warm sunny days balanced by crisp nights, leading to bright, expressive fruit with lively acidity.  Winemaking The wine is crafted with gentle handling and direct pressing, minimal sulphur use, and organic practices that capture purity and character. Fermentation is stainless steel with lees contact to build texture, and screwcap closure preserves freshness.  Tasting Notes Appearance Pale straw with a subtle green tint Aromas Fragrant peel and blossom, featuring ripe pear and white peach notes Palate Light to mediumbodied and finely textured, with flavours of crisp pear, citrus and soft apple Finish Clean, refreshing and lingering, with bright acidity and finesse Cellaring Potential Best enjoyed young to retain zip and aromatics, this Pinot Gris should shine for the next two to four years, drinking beautifully through to at least mid2027. Food Pairing Lovely alongside pork dishes, creamy seafood, fresh salads or light pasta. Equally refreshing on its own or served chilled as an aperitif.
