WINERY INFORMATION With humble beginnings of making wines for family and friends Frank Mitolo decided to start his own wine brand after a 5-hour long discussion with accomplished winemaker Ben Glaetzer in 1999 The winemaking team at the Mitolo winery takes pride in creating wines that showcase inividuality purity integrity quality elegance and power Ben joined Frank as winemaker and business partner in 2000 and released the first Mitolo wine ndash the 2000 G A M Shiraz nbsp TASTING NOTES This rustic deep garnet hued Mitolo Ourea Sagrantino gives off hints of cinnamon spice from its perfumed nose with floral scents and earthy undertones lurking in the background Aged in French oak hogsheads for 18 months this medium-bodied Sagrantino wine has a great palate structure which is rife with bright red fruit flavours of black cherries and ripe blackberries These aromas and flavours culminate in a long grippy and savoury finale This wonderful red wine can be cellared for 10 years and enjoyed with food items like rigatoni Alla gricia made with guanciale and malfatti with wild mushroom and truffle sauce
