WINERY INFORMATION Matahiwi Estate houses a state-of-the-art winery designed by celebrated Wellington architects Bevin Slessor The estate is located in Masterton Wairarapa and is sheltered by the Tararuas mountain range It is a family owned wine company started by Alastair Scott with the objetive to produce award-winning wines that portray the typical fruit characters and flavours of the Wairarapa wine region nbsp TASTING NOTES The grapes used to craft Matahiwi Estate Pinot Noir were cold soaked fermented and stored in both tanks and barrels to retain intense fruit flavours and complex characters It shows a pale ruby-red colour throughout the wine The attractive bouquet and fruit-forward palate exhibit juicy elements of red berry dark plum and cherry with fragrant fresh hay and savoury oak notes lurking in the background These characters fuse with subtle hints of spicy and smoky oak to provide a long and persistent finish This delightful Pinot Noir tastes amazing with food items like roasted chicken casseroles and beef bourguignon nbsp
