WINERY INFORMATION Talented and experienced Larry Cherubino has been the Head Winemaker at Houghton Wines and has designed various vineyards and wineries working in France Italy USA New Zealand and South Africa Along with wife Edwina he bought land for a small vineyard in Frankland River in 004 and together they released their first vintage the following year TASTING NOTES Larry Cherubino Pedestal Cabernet Merlot was crafted with the concept of putting the fruit over any winemaking construct In an elegant wine glass the drink displays a deep inky purple colour As you take a whiff the classic blackcurrant perfume of Cabernet Sauvignon pleases your nose Since fruit expression has been given precedence this Australian red wine isn t too oaky The vibrant palate replicates in taste with flavours of blackcurrant coupled with the warmth of bay leaf Undertones of chocolate and cedar add to the flavoursome palate while soft and silky tannins complete it altogether culminating in a lovely and lengthy finale Cellar it up to a decade for a rewarding experience Serve alongside a chargrilled rump with roasted bone marrow to have a filling and pleasing meal
