WINERY INFORMATION Houghton Vineyards rsquo skill and expertise in the winemaking business has been honed through 180 years of dedication and hard work In 1880 the winery received its first award - the Order of Merit Since then the Houghton brand has garnered about 200 awards and show trophies and well over 3000 medals in various wine shows competitions and festivals Based in the Middle Swan region of Swan Valley the Houghton family runs one of Western Australia rsquo s earliest established vineyard and winery TASTING NOTES Houghton rsquo s well deserved reputation is second to none The characteristic melon and peach attributes of Chardonnay combine well with the Verdelho strain adding tropical fruit flavours to the mix This results in a clean and fresh wine with a lingering finish Pleasing and enjoyable this wine has an aromatic palate from the tropical Verdelho hinting at pleasing regional differences This marvellous pale yellow brown hued blend is an ideal accompaniment to dishes such as porcini mushroom risotto caramelized lemon chick and mango salad with chili and lime dressing and baked salmon with kale and pine nuts
