Farnese Edizione Cinque Autoctoni 16

$359.94

Recently declared by Luca Maroni (Italy's answer to James Halliday) as the Italian Wine of the Year again, this epic blend is made from five different indigenous Italian red wine grapes (mainly Montepulciano, Primitivo and Sangiovese) and from two different regions (Puglia and Abruzzo). What doesthat translate to? One of the darkest, richest, most intense reds you can drink. A ferocious warrior of a wine, that comes complete in a dangerously heavy bottle and a style built to last for decades. Just listen to the enthusiasm from Maroni: ‘Its radiant force of fruit and flower emerges in a unique nose with notes of blackberry, violet, and black cherry that daze the nostrils…With a taste, balanced in acid, softness and tannins, of a suppleness and force that is simply phenomenal…An absolute masterwork of nature, technique, humanity and pure passion' 99/100 and No. 1 Greatest Wine of Italy 2017, Luca Maroni. He's not alone either, as it has also has landed several gold medals from shows like Mundus Vini; won the Berliner Wein Trophy plus 5 Grappas from Bibenda, and, most importantly, 4.3/5 from Vivino (putting it in the top 1% of wines in the world, all scored by consumers). I can't stress enough how compelling this wine is. If you like big, inky, rich, impossibly hedonistic red wines, then this is absolutely for you. Red - Other Reds - Montepulciano Primitivo Sangiovese Negro Amaro Malvasia Nera
