It’s no secret that Oregon has been producing some of the world’s best pinot noir for many, many years. We’re just rarely lucky enough to see it over here in Australia. And we’re pretty confident that you’ll never see it at this price, especially from Erath, one ofthe states most renowned and historic producers. Aromas of cherry, plum lavender and anise jump out of the glass. The first sip expresses pomegranate, cranberry and some nice acid and tannin. A bit of spice, smoke and structure comes from time spent in 20% new French oak. If you know Oregon pinot, then you’ll know what to expect. If this is your first foray into it, look out for the bright fruit of the Yarra style coupled with the wild earthiness of Central Otago.
