In 1964, well ahead of Australia's table wine boom, Karl Seppelt planted grapes at Drumborg, southern Victoria, first landfall north of Antarctica . The cool site struggled for decades but ultimately produced outstanding grapes and elegant, potentially long-lived table and sparkling wines. Seppel came close to abandoning this vineyard in Henty 30 or so years ago due to variability of the crop, a problem no more. The perfumed fragrance is wonderful, at once light and intense. Citrus and apple blossom notes are quite special and illuminate the very long palate and aftertaste.
