Delatite VS Reserve Riesling

Our Reserve Riesling is named for Vivienne Ritchie who (along with her husband Robert) planted the first vines here at Delatite in 1968. Vivienne’s Block is only 0.6ha and was part of the original vineyard, so the vines date back to 1968. It’s only made in Delatite’s bes years and the vines and winemaking are carefully managed to ensure ultra-premium quality.The fruit was hand-picked and then whole bunch pressed in a small basket press that was borrowed to accommodate such a small volume of fruit. The resulting juice was racked but some solids were retained to give the wild ferment more character. After fermentation, carried out by natural wild yeasts, the wine was treated very gently with no additions made and a gentle filtration being the only handling of the wine before bottling to retain the pristine characters of these old vines.
