With many standouts in this segment, this award was not an easy one to decide. We had to go back to the tasting room again and again until we knew we had the one. Our winner is from Deep Woods, which is appropriate because the flavour runs deep. Andy, our Head Wine Buyer at Vintage Cellars, keeps taking about the great buttery flavour and the perfect level of acidity you get with this great wine, and this is a real winner at an amazing price. Rich and well-rounded with a lovely acidity. It's clean and lively on the palate with deep flavours of ripe stone-fruit, nuanced by buttery cashew notes. The small, dedicated team at Deep Woods combines traditional and modern techniques all the way from the vine through to the bottle, which you can taste in every sip. It really is a knockout.
