Dalwhinnie is one of Victoria's oldest vineyards and has built an outstanding reputation for its super-premium cabernet sauvignon. In 1976, Ballarat architect Ewan Jones purchased a swathe of land near the village of Moonambel in the Pyrenees region of Western Victoria and named it 'Dalwhinnie' afte the town in Scotland from where his ancestors hailed. After spending the best part of three years clearing the land, the first vines were planted: one block of shiraz and one of cabernet sauvignon.
